La Meule

La Meule is an educational space dedicated to the history of charcoal worldwide. Through informational panels, photographs, interactive exhibits, and a short film, visitors are invited to explore the importance of this resource in human development. The building, located at the foot of Fleckenstein Castle, is constructed from local wood and features a shape and color reminiscent of a traditional charcoal kiln. This project was made possible thanks to funding from the municipality of Lembach, the Sauer-Pechelbronn community of communes, the CEA, the State, Europe, and the Charbonniers du Fleckenstein association, which also serves as the project owner.
