La Pommeraie

La Pommeraie is a direct fruit sales shop that has been operating for over 50 years. Located in Ammerschwihr, Haut-Rhin, it sits on the wine route, specifically on departmental road 10. Most of the fruits offered come from its own orchards: peaches, nectarines, cherries, and other red fruits in summer and autumn, as well as about twenty varieties of apples. The shop also allows customers to pick their own fruit for certain varieties, such as cherries, currants, blackcurrants, and blueberries from mid-June, and several apple varieties in September and October. These pickings are available from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition to fruits, La Pommeraie offers a wide range of products: seasonal vegetables, groceries, flour, bread, condiments, spices, sweets, honey, jams, dairy products, catering items, meat and charcuterie, beverages (lemonades, beers, and wines), as well as local crafts and books on Alsatian cuisine. A local tradition is to taste the different apple varieties to choose based on flavor rather than appearance.

The surroundings of La Pommeraie are equally remarkable. The landscape, blending the Vosges mountains, orchards, vineyards, and Alsatian village steeples, attracts visitors and inspires photographers. A small playground near the large parking area allows customers to take a break while enjoying the view, and some even picnic there.
