Lac des Perches (Sternsee)

Perched at 1000 meters altitude, Lac des Perches, also called Sternsee, is nestled in an ancient glacial cirque.

Its origin may be linked to volcanic phenomena.

Accessible only on foot, this preserved site offers several hiking trails to reach it. The most scenic, the 3 lakes circuit, allows visitors to discover the two other lakes of Neuweiher, located at 880 meters altitude. Fishing is permitted on site, but swimming is at visitors' own risk. From Neuweiher, it takes about an hour's walk to reach the lake, or 40 minutes from the Riesenwald farm-inn. Finally, camping is strictly forbidden around the lake and its surroundings.
