Lachtelweiher Lake
Perched at 740 meters altitude, Lachtelweiher is the southernmost lake in the Vosges.
Its origin likely dates back to a landslide: the accumulation of rocks blocked the waters, creating this peaceful body of water. The rocks visible in the lake's natural dam and on the slopes of Stosswald to the north bear witness to this past geological event.
Just a few kilometers away, the Lochberg Farm-Inn offers a tasty stop after a walk. Activities around the lake mainly include fishing and hiking, but swimming is strictly forbidden, at visitors' own risk.
To get there, you can drive towards Kirchberg center then Lachtelweiher. On foot, it takes about an hour's walk from Kirchberg, or only 30 minutes from the Lochberg farm-inn, Entzenbach, or Bruckenwald.
