Lake Alfeld

Born from glacial erosion, Lake Alfeld overlooks the Doller Valley from its perch behind a massive moraine. In 1883, German engineers built a 30-meter-high dam to raise its water level.

Inaugurated in 1888, this structure was hailed as a technical feat of its time.

Above the calm waters of the lake, the Chalet and its Wasserfall waterfall invite visitors to a bucolic escape. A roughly 40-minute hike starting from the dam leads there, offering breathtaking views of the valley below.

Visitors can enjoy fishing or walks around the lake, but swimming is strictly prohibited due to safety risks.
