Lautenbach

Lautenbach and its hamlet of Schweighouse form a mid-mountain village nestled in the Haut-Florival, just six kilometers from Guebwiller. Close to the Alsace wine route, it is also distinguished by its Saint-Michel collegiate church, which places it on the Romanesque route itinerary. The nearby ridge road allows access in both summer and winter to the summits of Markstein, located fifteen kilometers away (altitude 1240 meters), and Grand Ballon, thirty kilometers away (altitude 1424 meters).

The village is renowned for its mountain inns, where you can taste local specialties and bring back farm products: cold cuts, sausages, cheeses, dairy products, syrups,

  • liqueurs, and honey.

Lautenbach owes part of its fame to the autobiographical novel by Jean Egen, a journalist for *Canard Enchaîné* and *Le Monde*, titled *The Linden Trees of Lautenbach*. In this work, the author, originally from the village, passionately celebrates this place which he considers a marvel of creation.

Certainly, Lautenbach stands out as an essential stop to discover the Florival, its local products, and authentic heritage.
