Le Wurmberg Natural Site
Perched at the entrance of the Bruche Valley, about thirty kilometers from Strasbourg, the Wurmberg natural site overlooks the hill of Gresswiller.
This preserved area serves as a true refuge for local flora and fauna.
Exploring the wastelands, meadows, and orchards, visitors discover a landscape emblematic of the Vosges foothills, where biodiversity and agricultural traditions blend. The terraced slopes of the hill shelter rare plant species such as orchids, Aster amellus, fringed gentian, and columbine. The hedgerows provide shelter for animals like the badger, the woodchat shrike, and various songbirds. The orchards, rich in old varieties, also play a vital role for species like the European turtle dove and numerous insects, making this site a fragile and precious ecosystem.
