Little Venice District
Little Venice refers to the area along the Lauch River in Colmar, named for the row of houses lining this river that runs through the southeast of the city.
This picturesque neighborhood begins behind the Koïffhus, follows the Poissonnerie quay, and extends to the Turenne and Saint-Pierre bridges.
It marks the entrance to the Krutenau district, whose name recalls former market gardening lands on the urban outskirts.
Originally, Krutenau was inhabited by winegrowers, market gardeners, and boatmen.
It is centered around Turenne Street, through which Marshal Turenne made his triumphant entry into Colmar in 1674.
Today, boat rides are available here, offering a unique perspective on this preserved setting.
