Lovers' Alley

As its name suggests, the Lovers' Alley is a lime tree avenue planted by newlyweds in the 18th and 19th centuries. This shaded path connects the heights of the Waldersbach commune to the Perheux Pass, offering a picturesque walk through the Alsatian countryside. This tradition was started by the famous pastor of the Ban de la Roche, Jean-Frédéric Oberlin, who encouraged newlyweds to plant a tree as a symbol of their love and commitment. The alley has been listed since 1938 in the national register of classified sites, in tribute to the pastor's deep attachment to this place and his educational and social work.
