Maginot Line Conservatory - Neunhoffen Casemate

The Neunhoffen casemate is an iconic fortification of the Maginot Line in the Northern Vosges. Fully restored to its original state, it offers an immersion into the daily life of a fortress crew during World War II. Period photographs illustrate this era in the Schwarzbach valley, while archival documents shed light on its strategic role between 1939 and 1945.

A walking trail allows visitors to discover the remains of the Maginot Line scattered throughout the valley: dams designed to flood strategic areas, the officers' quarters, a shooting range, and the foundations of barracks. These installations testify to the defensive ingenuity of the time.

Since May 2024, a new exhibition hall is dedicated to the Cold War period. It features a collection of instruments and objects related to this era, offering a complementary perspective on 20th-century military history.
