Maison Mieg
This elegant bourgeois house, rebuilt around 1560, is a rare example of architecture from that period in Mulhouse. It belonged to the Mieg family, originally from Basel, from 1694 to 1840. In 1799, Mathieu Mieg, nicknamed "The Chronicler," decorated the facade with paintings depicting episodes from Swiss history. This act symbolized his opposition to Mulhouse's annexation by France. The 18th-century painted woodwork, now preserved at the Historical Museum, reflects the decorative richness of the era. The pointed arch windows on the ground floor were added in the 20th century.
