Markrube Forest
The trail winds through a deciduous forest where, on both sides of the path, stand four remarkably well-preserved German bunkers.
Dating from the First World War, these defensive structures were strategically positioned behind the front line, between Vieil Armand and the Swiss border. Their mission was to protect the immediate surroundings of Mulhouse, thus securing access routes from the rear lines.
