Media Library
In 1884, Paul Baudry, deputy director of a major regional spinning mill, acquired an orchard in Cernay to build a manor house.
The villa, constructed from Vosges rubble stone and surrounded by a park, was completed the following year, in 1885.
In 1948, the Alsace Potash Mines became its owners and rented it to the Mining Social Security.
Thirty years later, in 1990, the city of Cernay purchased this iconic site to preserve it and establish a media library there.
The project was completed in 1999 with the opening to the public of an 850 m² space spread over three levels, offering 15,000 documents. It includes fiction, documentaries, comics, and periodicals, as well as a music section with CDs for adults and children, specialized books, and music DVDs. A selection of DVDs for adults and youth completes the cultural offering.
