Medieval Garden Courtil de St Fiacre

Opened in 2009 thanks to the initiative of the Friends of Ferrette Castle, the medieval garden of Courtil de St Fiacre recreates the layout of gardens from the Middle Ages.

Structured into distinct squares, each dedicated to a specific purpose, it houses aromatic, medicinal, leguminous, and so-called magical plants.

The design strictly follows historical recommendations, notably those of Charlemagne's Capitular and the Saint Gall plan, which defined the principles of cultivation and plant use at that time.

This site offers an authentic dive into medieval horticultural knowledge and practices.

Guided tours are organized for groups, allowing visitors to discover the specifics of this reconstructed garden.
