Medieval Garden of Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle
Outside the fortress of Haut-Koenigsbourg, the medieval garden offers a journey back in time through its various crops. Visitors discover plantings arranged in beds, rose bushes, a vegetable garden, a herb garden, and so-called magical plants. Benches invite guests to "whisper sweet nothings," as in the Middle Ages.
This garden, constantly evolving since its creation, does not aim to be a perfect reconstruction. It combines historical plausibility, aesthetics, and educational interest. Utilitarian plants, as well as some wild species typical of medieval food and practices, have been added.
It is thus a contemporary interpretation of what a medieval garden might have been like in the 15th century.
