Medieval Walls of Wangen
Built at the end of the 13th century, these ramparts were designed alongside the castle to defend a city and its already prosperous and highly sought-after vineyard. Their enclosure, with a diameter of 100 meters, symbolizes this dual defensive and economic function. Protected as a historic monument since 1931, these walls played a key role in resisting invasions: English, Strasbourg forces, Armagnacs, Swedes, and then French in 1643 and 1646.
