Memorial Garden
On the site of the former synagogue on Quai Kléber, burned down by the Nazis in 1940, there now stands a place of memory and reflection.
This peaceful haven, located in the heart of the city, highlights the outline of the lost building.
At the center of the garden is a bronze model reproducing the synagogue, built in 1898 by architect Ludwig Levy.
This majestic building once symbolized the presence of the Jewish community in Strasbourg, much like the cathedral for Catholics or Saint-Thomas Church for Protestants.
At the far end of the garden, a wall of names commemorates the 1,896 victims of the Holocaust in Bas-Rhin as well as the 86 people who died at the Struthof camp.
