Memorial Monument of the 6th Thuringian Infantry Regiment
This monument, erected in 1896, commemorates the soldiers of the 6th Thuringian Infantry Regiment who fell during the battle on August 6, 1870.
Its base bears the inscription "Den Gefallenen des 6. Thür. Inf. Regiments n. 95 errichtet von Kameraden u. Mitbürgern," indicating it was raised by their comrades and fellow citizens.
The statue, cast by sculptor Johannes Schilling, displays on its banners the names Victoria Kronprinzessin von Preussen, Princess Royale von Gross-Britannien und ihr Land, Herzogin zu Sachsen, as well as the cities of Wissembourg, Sedan, Paris, and Orléans. The pedestal, adorned with the coat of arms of Thuringia, also bears the initials G. and E. topped with a crown, likely referring to Wilhelm II, along with the dates 1870-1895.
