Memorial Museum of the Battles of the Colmar Pocket - Winter 1944/45
This Memorial Museum is housed in a vaulted cellar of the 18th-century former presbytery, in the heart of the medieval town of Turckheim. It pays tribute to the two months of intense fighting that marked the liberation of Colmar during the harsh winter of 1944-1945.
The exhibition brings together a rich collection of objects and documents: weapons, military equipment, uniforms from the German, American, and French armies, posters, photographs, and mannequins recreating scenes from the era. Models of armored vehicles and combat aircraft complete this immersive journey.
Moreover, the museum plays an active role in the preservation of a threatened historical heritage, highlighting often overlooked elements from this period.
