Mill Cottage
Located in the picturesque village of Gunsbach, in the heart of the Munster Valley in Alsace, this spacious and bright holiday rental offers stunning views of the valley. Situated on the first floor of a house dating back to before World War I, the apartment has been fully renovated to accommodate between 5 and 7 people over a total area of 90 m². It is non-smoking and unfortunately does not accept pets.
Gunsbach, a village of 950 inhabitants, is a pleasant place to live, surrounded by lush nature. Just 3 km from Munster, it is famous for being the birthplace of Albert Schweitzer, Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 1952, who described himself as "the Man from Gunsbach, Citizen of the World."
The rental offers an entrance hall, a semi-open kitchen equipped and connected to the living room, a large living area with a sofa bed, a bathroom with a large shower and double sink, two bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other with a double bed plus a single bed), and a separate toilet. The accommodation features free WIFI access, a TV with DVD player and Netflix access (for subscribers), as well as some games and books for all ages. A high chair and a travel cot can be provided on request, as well as a washing machine, ironing board, and iron.
Outside, a 600 m² enclosed garden surrounded by greenery allows guests to enjoy the outdoors during nice weather. A large covered room is being set up to offer additional space. The rental is located right opposite a large parking lot.
Rentals are possible from 2 nights, with rates varying according to the length of stay: from €350 to €490 for a week (7 nights) and €150 for a weekend (2 nights), based on 5 people. Bed linen rental and a cleaning fee of €50 may be charged extra.
In the village, you will find the Dr. Albert Schweitzer Museum, the Cheese House (with tours and dining), a restaurant, a bakery, and a vast 441-hectare forest ideal for walks. The train station, just a 5-minute walk away, allows easy access by train. The rental is also close to bike paths, a supermarket, and a gas station 2 km away.
There is no shortage of leisure activities: hiking and mountain biking trails start nearby, ski resorts are close (Tanet, Gaschney, Schnepfenried, La Schlucht, Lac Blanc, La Bresse), as well as activities like tree climbing, a water sports center, an equestrian center, fishing, and paragliding. The region is also full of sites to discover: the wine route, the ridge route, castles, lakes, and renowned Alsatian villages such as Turckheim, Colmar, Ribeauvillé, Eguisheim (voted France's most beautiful village in 2013), Riquewihr, and Kaysersberg (voted France's most beautiful village in 2017). Finally, Gunsbach is ideally located one hour from Strasbourg, Germany, and Switzerland.
