Miner's House
In the heart of the village of Urbeis stands the last preserved miner's house, also known as the day laborer's house. This modest building, typical of 19th-century Alsatian rural architecture, is organized over several levels reflecting the living conditions of the time. The basement once served as a stable for goats, while the ground floor included a bedroom, a functional kitchen, and a pigsty. The attic housed both the main living space and a hayloft for storing hay. Fully renovated in 2002 through the joint efforts of the Community of Communes and the Alsatian House Preservation Association, this home now offers an authentic testimony to the daily life of local mine workers.
