Mittelschaeffolsheim

With 20 letters, Mittelschaeffolsheim shares with Niederschaeffolsheim the title of the French commune with the longest place name.

Located at the southwestern edge of the Haguenau Agglomeration Community, it serves as a link between this community, the Kochersberg Community of Communes, and the Pays de la Zorn Community of Communes. Close to the Strasbourg Eurometropolis, its demographic development is directly influenced by this proximity.

The commune has facilities dedicated to young children: a micro-crèche, a house for childminders, and childminders at home welcome infants. Village students attend the intercommunal school "La Rose des Vents" in Donnenheim, where they can also participate in extracurricular and after-school activities. Middle school students go to Brumath, and high school students attend schools in Haguenau or Strasbourg. Although many residents work in the Eurometropolis, some carry out their professional activities within the Haguenau Agglomeration Community.

Agriculture, especially livestock farming and mixed farming, remains an important sector. Mittelschaeffolsheim is ranked as the second largest hop-growing commune in France, with about 60 hectares dedicated to this crop. Several businesses and shops are located on site, including a bakery, a takeaway pizza point, and a hairdresser.

For leisure, the Acf Mittel association organizes activities throughout the year that promote social connections, such as Easter egg hunts, country days, or Halloween evenings. A pond, surrounded by greenery, allows "No Kill" fishing all year round with a membership card and can also be rented for an evening or a weekend.
