Monastic Gardens of the Saint-Cyriaque Abbey Church
Nestled in the peaceful village of Altorf, about twenty minutes from Strasbourg, lies a haven of serenity: the monastic gardens.
This relaxing spot, where time seems to stand still, is much more than just a green space. It embodies the heritage of the gardening monks, organized into several small themed gardens. The Hortus, recreated as a cloistered garden with a pergola, recalls the traditional vegetable garden. The Pomarium evokes an orchard-cemetery, while the Herbularius houses a garden dedicated to medicinal plants.
These areas reflect the Rule of Saint Benedict and its motto *Ora et Labora* (pray and work), inviting visitors on a spiritual walk.
Informative panels along the path guide visitors through this contemplative and educational experience.
