Monument to the Glory of the 1st Free French Division
On December 31, 1944, the 1st Free French Division settled south of Strasbourg.
In a harsh winter, it actively participated in the defense of the Alsatian city, threatened by a German counter-offensive launched two weeks earlier.
Thanks to its commitment, Strasbourg narrowly escaped capture by enemy forces.
However, this battle was costly: the BM 24 marching battalion was completely destroyed during the fighting at Obenheim.
