Murbach
Nestled in a valley of the Florival, the village of Murbach owes its fame to its abbey, founded in 728 by Count Eberhardt, from the family of the Dukes of Alsace. This Benedictine abbey accumulated privileges over the centuries that favored its growth in Alsace and beyond.
The Romanesque abbey church today preserves only its apse and transept, rebuilt at the beginning of the 18th century. These remains, still visible, elegantly evoke the past grandeur of this building as it once stood in its entirety.
