Musée de l'Œuvre Notre-Dame
Perched at the foot of the majestic Strasbourg Cathedral, the Musée de l’Œuvre Notre-Dame offers a journey through seven centuries of artistic history.
Its rich and varied collections provide insight into treasures created in Strasbourg and the Upper Rhine region between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
This period, spanning the 13th to the 16th century, saw the city establish itself as one of the major artistic centers of the German Empire.
The museum notably houses masterpieces of sculpture directly from the cathedral, as well as emblematic pieces of Upper Rhine art from the 15th and 16th centuries.
Among the represented artists are major figures such as Nicolas de Leyde, Conrad Witz, Hans Baldung Grien, and Peter Hemmel d’Andlau, whose works illustrate the excellence and influence of this region at the time.
