Museum of Decorative Arts

Built between 1732 and 1742 under the direction of Robert de Cotte, the king's chief architect, the Palais Rohan stands at the foot of Strasbourg Cathedral.

This architectural gem, former residence of the prince-bishops, now houses three distinct museums. On the ground floor, the Museum of Decorative Arts consists of two remarkable spaces: on one side, the sumptuous apartments of the King and the cardinals of Rohan, showcasing the opulence of the era; on the other, the stables wing, where collections of Strasbourg decorative arts are displayed, covering a period from 1681 to the mid-19th century. Please note that the apartments will not be accessible to the public from Monday, September 21 to Thursday, November 19, 2026, inclusive, due to the installation of an exhibition.
