Namensstein
The Namensstein, a historic monument erected in October 1896 for the inauguration of the Mutzig fortress, was originally located in an area not accessible to the public.
After 1918, it gradually lost its symbolic elements. Today, it has been moved to the public reception area to be restored to its original appearance.
Visitors to the fort can now admire this emblematic monument, which has regained its German imperial eagle and its "Feste Kaiser Wilhelm II" plaque, both faithfully reproduced. The two cannons that once stood at its base have also been reinstalled.
