Nellkopf I 52 Infantry Strongpoint

The Nellkopf infantry strongpoint is a remarkable element of the belt of forts built around Strasbourg after the 1871 annexation by Germany. Located on the slopes of the large Hausbergen ridge, this strategic site overlooks the roads coming from Kochersberg and notably allows monitoring access to the Saverne Pass, a traditional gateway to Alsace from France. Almost entirely preserved, it offers an exceptional testimony to the military architecture of that era.

Throughout the year, volunteers work on the site depending on weather conditions and their availability. Several times a year, workshops open to the local population and visitors are organized to help preserve this historic place.

The Nellkopf can be explored during guided tours, by appointment or during specific events organized by the municipalities. These tours, adapted to different audiences, are offered in French, German, or English, welcoming school groups, history enthusiasts, and casual visitors alike. A marked walking trail, connecting the Berges du Musaubach promenade to the site, also allows access on foot.
