Neuntelstein Rock
Perched at 971 meters above sea level, the Neuntelstein stands just 7 kilometers from the mountain resort of Hohwald. This granite rock, rising about thirty meters above the northern range of the Andlau Valley, is a popular spot for its exceptional panoramic views. From its summit, you can see the Mont Sainte-Odile massif, the Alsace plain, and on clear days, the outlines of the Black Forest and the Alps in the background.
To get there, start from Hohwald heading towards Champ du Feu. Upon reaching the Rotlach roundabout, a starting point for many hikes, parking is available on the right. The site is then accessible after a 20-minute walk along a trail marked with red discs. Note that access can be difficult in winter due to snow.
This location is especially suitable for beginners. It offers 50 climbing routes, with difficulties ranging from 3b to 7b, and heights between 15 and 25 meters.
