Neuviller-la-Roche Museum of Popular Traditions
Nestled away from the main roads, Neuviller-La-Roche offers a preserved setting in the heart of the Vosges forest.
The village charms with its picturesque features: houses clinging to the mountain, narrow streets, and the elegant steeple of its church, which dominates local life.
This is where the history of the place takes root, where time seems to flow differently.
In 1984, an inspiring visit to the Museum of the Cévennes Valleys sparked a local ambition: to create a museum dedicated to the traditions of Neuviller-La-Roche.
The idea took shape the following year with the founding of the Association for the Protection of Heritage and Local Traditions, officially established in 1985.
Four years of hard work were needed to renovate a municipal building and gather tools, machines, and emblematic objects from the village's past activities.
The result matched the effort: the museum was inaugurated in 1989, becoming a place of memory and transmission for residents and future generations. Today, it is open by appointment or during a special open day in July or August.
