Neuweiher Lakes

In the heart of the Doller valley, the two Neuweiher lakes, neighboring bodies of water of unequal size, are revealed after an hour's walk from Rimbach-près-Masevaux. Accessible only on foot, their charm lies in this exclusivity and their preserved forest setting.

These bodies of water once belonged to the Chapter of Masevaux, which managed water rights for local forges and forest estates, essential for producing charcoal needed by this industry. The hike to Perches Lake, located at 1000 meters altitude, is possible via chalet no. 8 Obere Bers, following the blue rectangle trail marker (difficult level). For a break or overnight stay, the Auberge du Neuweiher, open from April to November, offers rooms or dormitories. The Gresson farm inn also provides accommodations. On-site activities are limited to fishing and hiking; swimming is strictly prohibited and done at visitors' own risk.
