New Mint Hotel

Thann gained the right to mint silver coins in 1387, marking its economic autonomy.

On the facade of a city building, one can still admire the date 1533 and the distinctive mark of the tacheron, identical to that on the architect's house.

Initially reserved for local use, this mark was later adopted throughout the Holy Roman Empire.

Among Thann's coins, the Pilgerthaler, nicknamed the "pilgrim's thaler," stood out for its fame. Today, a bronze copy of this historic coin is displayed at the Tourist Office, allowing visitors to discover this unique monetary heritage.
