Niedernai Castle for Groups
A few kilometers from Obernai, near Mont Sainte-Odile, Niedernai Castle stands out as one of the rare Alsatian lowland castles. Built in the 11th century by the von Landsberg family, it embodies eight centuries of history, although only its original keep has survived the passage of time. Over the centuries, the site has undergone many changes and notably served as General Leclerc's headquarters during World War II. A symbol of Alsatian heritage, it is now being restored by Count and Countess Christian d’Andlau-Hombourg, with the support of the Friends of Niedernai Castle association, aiming to restore its former glory and open it to the public. For groups of at least ten people, various activities are offered by reservation: historical tours, wine tastings, oenology workshops, and meals featuring tarte flambée. Three packages are available for groups and coach parties, including outdoor visits, snacks, or tastings, with prices ranging from €10 to €30 per person, including drinks and meals.
