Niffer

Niffer is a charming Alsatian village located in the southern part of the region, on the banks of the Rhine. It lies at the heart of the Border Triangle, where France, Switzerland, and Germany meet. Its name, dating back to the 12th century, is said to mean "new ford," reflecting its history linked to river crossings. The village features a large lock, an impressive structure that allows the passage of river convoys weighing up to 3,000 tons. This technical site, both useful and spectacular, is worth a visit for its significance in Rhine navigation.
