Oberhaslach
Oberhaslach is a charming flowered village located about thirty kilometers west of Strasbourg, in the Vosges mountain range. Historically linked to its neighboring commune Niederhaslach, it is marked by the presence of the hermit Saint Florent, who lived near the current Saint-Florent chapel in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The emblematic site of Oberhaslach remains the Nideck waterfall and castle, offering a typical panorama of the Vosges mountains. The waterfall, over 25 meters high, is easily accessible on foot and overlooks the castle. It is associated with the legend of the Nideck giants, popularized by the German poet Adalbert von Chamisso, which continues to fascinate visitors.
The ruins of Hohenstein, Nideck, as well as the small and large Ringelstein, complete the village's attractions. Several hiking trails allow exploration of these sites, such as "The Giants' Trail," born from a sculpture symposium in 2003, or family-friendly walks.
