Obermorschwihr

Perched at 260 meters altitude, Obermorschwihr stretches at the foot of the Vosges foothills, about ten kilometers south of Colmar. Entirely dedicated to viticulture, this small village benefits from a microclimate and particularly fertile soils, especially around the place called Bildstoeckle. Local winemakers passionately cultivate fine wines, continuing a family tradition rooted in the terroir.

The village has an ancient history, documented as early as 913 by a charter. Its built heritage bears witness to this: the sturdy 12th-century church, whose half-timbered bell tower is one of the few in Alsace, proudly dominates the area. Nearby, the remains of the 11th-century Marbach Abbey blend with a specialized education center in a preserved setting.

To extend your stay, Obermorschwihr offers rural lodgings and two farm campgrounds. The village also serves as an ideal starting point to explore the vineyards, forests, and typical surrounding villages on foot or by bike. Written heritage enriches this wealth: a copy of the 12th-century Codex Guta Sintram is presented at Marbach through an audiovisual display.
