Ochsenstein Castle

Perched at 585 meters above sea level in the heart of the Saverne state forest, on the Schlossberg massif, the Ochsenstein Castle overlooks the landscape from the municipal area of Reinhardsmunster.

Built on three sandstone spurs, this medieval site actually consists of three distinct castles: the Grand Ochsenstein, the Petit Ochsenstein, and the Wachelheim Castle.

Today, the site is partially accessible: only the Grand Ochsenstein can be visited, while the remains of an old castle chapel, a witness to the religious history of the place, remain visible and accessible.
