Old Castle of Wangen
Perched in the heart of the town, this medieval castle was built in the 13th century by the Von Wangen knights, vassals of the Bishop of Strasbourg. They lived here while protecting the village. However, in 1566, the castle was abandoned after the Wangen family lost their properties in the region. The moats, once defensive, were even converted into fish ponds. Around 1750, the octagonal structure was dismantled, leaving only ruins. Today, the remaining parts of the outer enclosure and the associated archaeological site have been protected as historic monuments since 1993.
