Old Lesage Tile Factory

Founded in 1897 by Oscar Lesage, this tile factory was established to diversify the entrepreneur's activities. Destroyed by bombing in 1944, it was rebuilt in 1951 before ceasing operations in 1976. However, the family business continued to grow with Rector flooring. Oscar Lesage, also a philanthropist, began in 1885 by running a horse-drawn transport company, specializing notably in septic tank emptying. This business evolved into Lesage Transport, then Lesage Travel, which ceased operations in 2012. The original chimney, dating from the early 20th century, is notable for its 4.85-meter diameter and its ornamental ring of two-tone bricks. Finally, the sculpture "The Bird Man," created by Louis Perinn, was installed in 1987.
