Ornano House

The Ornano House is an imposing 18th-century mansion built to host the guests of the Marquis de Choiseul-Meuse, lord of Villé. After the Revolution, it was purchased by Frédéric Joseph Hirn, the town's mayor, and then passed through the hands of several influential families, including the d'Ornano family. One member, Philippe, lived there surrounded by animals such as wild boars and a monkey, gaining great popularity in the valley. His son Edgar, more passionate about roses and absinthe than work, died without heirs in 1907. The residence later belonged successively to the Helffer, Bedicam, and Fritsch families, who still visit regularly. This building, with harmonious proportions and windows with curved lintels, houses a residence, a barn, a stable, a cellar, and a large orchard. The main entrance door opens onto a cozy atmosphere, while another door to the north provides access to the agricultural area. Symbolizing nearly two and a half centuries of history, the Ornano House embodies the past of Villé and its valley.
