Orschwiller

Perched on a promontory overlooking the Alsace plain and the Black Forest, Orschwiller is an iconic village on the Wine Route. It is renowned for its imposing Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle, a medieval fortress built in the 12th century and restored in the 15th. This historic site, rich in legends, offers a unique panorama of Alsatian landscapes. At its foot, the Saint-Maurice Church stands out with its white neoclassical façade, designed at the end of the 18th century by architect Christiani. Featuring a façade bell tower, a single nave, and a polygonal choir, it has been a listed historic monument since 1987. Its organ, also protected, was restored after a fire. An orientation table behind the church allows visitors to admire a remarkable landscape. Orschwiller is also known for its vineyards, where local wines such as the Grand Cru Praelatenberg can be tasted. Every two years, the village lights up during its Authentic Christmas Village, immersing visitors in a magical atmosphere inspired by Alsatian traditions.
