Painted Walls of the Former Town Hall
The sumptuous decorations of the town hall are the work of the artist Jean Gabriel, created in 1698 in the Rhenish Renaissance style.
These frescoes, originally commissioned for economic reasons, adorn the walls of the building and consist of allegorical figures symbolizing justice, faith, and charity, as well as coats of arms of Swiss cities and cantons, accompanied by various decorative motifs. On the south facade, the "Klapperstein" is located, symbolizing punishments for gossiping.
