Paragliding Site

Perched at 1,245 meters altitude, the Schnepfried take-off site, located near Mittlach in the Vosges, offers an open view to the east and northeast. Accessible from the Munster valley by taking the Route des Crêtes via the D27, you must park your vehicle at the Platzerwasel pass, then walk a trail of about 15 minutes. The elevation gain to climb is 645 meters, and the site's aerology, mainly oriented eastward, suits northeast winds.

It is essential to stay vigilant regarding the ski lifts present in the area. Access is restricted to paragliding schools, which must comply with current regulations and contact the Alsace Free Flight League or the Markstein School Center to obtain the necessary authorizations. Landing is at Sondernach, upstream of the village, before the first hairpin turn.

This area, framed by a narrow valley, trees, and power lines, requires excellent approach technique skills. Landing is strictly limited to the marked area, and parking along the road is prohibited: use the parking lot on the D27 when leaving Sondernach.
