Petite Camargue Alsacienne

Located in the extreme southeast of Haut-Rhin, at the heart of the Three Countries region, the Petite Camargue Alsacienne is the first National Nature Reserve of Alsace, classified in 1982. It stretches nearly 15 kilometers long and 1 to 2 kilometers wide within the former main bed of the Rhine, in its characteristic braided zone. This exceptional location, at the crossroads of several biogeographical influences, explains the remarkable richness of its natural environments and biodiversity.

A true mosaic of habitats, the reserve hosts a great diversity of animal and plant species. Its ecosystems, closely linked to the Upper Rhine, reflect the history of its developments and the significant ecological restoration work carried out over time.

Created to preserve the habitats and emblematic species of the Rhine plain, the reserve is now a nationally important protected natural area. Its management is ensured by a committed association, made up of employees and volunteers dedicated to the protection and enhancement of this exceptional heritage.
