Prince Charles Rock Leap

Perched below the road at the Col de Saverne, the Prince Charles Rock Leap stands out for its rocky escarpment and legendary history.

According to tradition, a prince of Lorraine, pursued by enemies, found refuge by leaping into the void from this rock, accompanied by his horse. The stone still bears the horse's hoof marks, engraved near the old Col road, as a silent testimony to this dramatic episode.

This picturesque site attracts hiking enthusiasts, who can explore it via several walking routes. Among them, the Around the Col de Saverne circuit is especially recommended to discover this place rich in history while enjoying the surrounding landscapes.
