Protestant Church
The Protestant church of Ostheim, inaugurated in April 1960, marks a new chapter in the religious history of the town. Built along the Fecht river, it replaces the old Protestant church, which was destroyed in 1854 due to its dilapidated and cramped condition.
Its contemporary architecture features a facade made up of 14 vertical concrete elements, topped by a semi-circular shape reminiscent of a rose window, and adorned with brightly colored stained glass.
Inside, the vestibule preserves the small clock hand from the bell tower as well as the key to the entrance door of the 1854 Protestant church. The nave, tall and bright, is punctuated by 22 narrow, slender windows.
The choir, illuminated by the reflection of a large side stained glass window depicting Jesus blessing children, completes the sacred space. An independent bell tower stands nearby.
Finally, on the north gable, a large wrought iron Christ with open arms blesses two children at his feet, adding a symbolic touch to this place of worship.
