'Rain' Archaeological Site

In 1992, a Neanderthal hunting shelter was uncovered, revealing traces of human occupation dating back about 90,000 years BCE.

Excavations uncovered numerous artifacts, including flint tools and bones of reindeer, horses, bison, and mammoths, illustrating the life and hunting activities of our ancestors. Today, this archaeological site is owned by the European Community of Alsace. It is accessible to the public only during organized visits in the summer or on Archaeology Day, offering a rare opportunity to explore this prehistoric heritage.
