Rangen
Perched in the northwest of Alsace, Rangen is a small commune of 186 inhabitants that fosters a serene living environment, away from the bustle of neighboring towns. Surrounded by nature, it embodies the typical charm of Alsatian villages, ideal for rest and exploring its rich past. 19th-century excavations uncovered a Merovingian cemetery, attesting to its ancient history dating back several centuries. The Saint Martin Church, one of the oldest in the region, dates from the 10th century and retains elements from the 12th century. Damaged by a fire in 1981, it was rebuilt thanks to the community's mobilization, illustrating their solidarity. In 2004, a washhouse was restored by the commune, which plans to enhance its value. Near the church stands a remarkable oak tree about 150 years old, although it is on private property. Since 2013, Rangen has proudly owned “La Ferme Marie,” an 18th-century Alsatian farm awarded as the French people's favorite house, embodying authenticity and the atmosphere of yesteryear.
