Re-Naissance Museum Space
Nestled at the foot of the ancestral castle that witnessed its birth and clinging to the mountainside, Ferrette still seems to watch over its ramparts against potential invaders. The town invites exploration through its medieval paths and alleys, protected by remarkable buildings, where a guide can accompany visitors on a journey through time. This odyssey reveals the Counts of Ferrette, the Emperors of Austria, King Louis XIV, and His Serene Highness Albert II of Monaco, whose ties to the town are showcased in the museum space. Located on the ground floor of the 1572 town hall, itself a historic monument, the museum offers a permanent exhibition in French, German, and English, tracing the history of the town and county through chronological panels and an audiovisual presentation centered around a model of Ferrette. A touchscreen also provides videos about local figures like Léon Lehmann and documentaries about the town. These exhibitions were created by history enthusiasts from the Trésors de Ferrette association and the Sundgau History Society. The museum space also hosts temporary exhibitions and offers guided tours on request for groups and schools.
